Your data, your focus.

This Privacy Policy describes how Hush ("we", "us", or "the app") handles your information when you use the Hush mobile application. Hush is a calm focus-timer app built and operated by Kunal Shinde ("the developer").

We've tried to write this in plain English. If anything is unclear, please reach out: skunal148@gmail.com.

1. What we collect

Only what's needed to make the app work. Specifically:

Account information (only if you sign in)

• Email address — provided by Google Sign-In when you choose to connect your Google account.
• Display name — provided by Google Sign-In.
• Profile picture URL — optional, provided by Google Sign-In.
• Firebase user ID — an anonymous identifier assigned by Google Firebase to link your account to your synced data.

You can use Hush without signing in. If you do, none of the above is collected and your data stays on your device.

Focus session data

• Session start time
• Session duration in minutes
• Whether the session was completed or stopped early
• The category you tagged it with (e.g. "Study", "Work")
• Which ambient soundscape was active

Crash diagnostics

Anonymous crash reports and stack traces via Google Firebase Crashlytics. These include device model, Android version, and the line of code that crashed. They do not include your name, email, or session content.

App preferences (stored only on your device)

• Chosen visual theme
• Voice guidance on/off
• Last-used timer duration, category, and soundscape

2. What we do not collect

For clarity, Hush never accesses or collects any of the following:

• Location
• Contacts
• Photos, camera, or microphone
• SMS or call history
• Browsing history
• Health or fitness data
• Advertising IDs
• Financial or payment data (Hush is free; no in-app purchases)

3. Why we collect it

4. Where your data is stored

On your device

All session history and preferences are stored locally on your device using Android's standard storage (Room database + SharedPreferences). This data is private to the Hush app and protected by Android's full-disk encryption (active by default on all modern Android devices with a lock screen).

In Google Firebase (only if you sign in)

If you sign in, your focus session history is also synced to Google Cloud Firestore. Sessions are stored at the path users/{your-firebase-user-id}/sessions/ and are accessible only to you (enforced by Firestore security rules). Google encrypts all data at rest and in transit by default.

Hush's Firebase project is hosted in Google Cloud's US data centers.

5. Who else has access

Hush uses the following third-party services to operate. Each of these has its own privacy policy linked below.

We do not share, sell, or rent your information to advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties. Hush has no advertising SDKs.

6. How long we keep your data

• Cloud data: kept for as long as your account exists. You can delete it at any time using the in-app "Delete account & all data" button (Profile → Account → Delete account & all data).
• Local data: kept on your device until you delete the app or use the in-app account deletion flow.
• Crash reports: Firebase Crashlytics retains crash data for 90 days, per Firebase's defaults.

7. Your rights and how to exercise them

Wherever you live, you have the right to:

• See what data we hold about you — email skunal148@gmail.com and we'll send a copy of all data tied to your Firebase user ID within 30 days.
• Correct your data — contact us via email; for display name / email, you can also update those in your Google Account settings.
• Delete your data — use the in-app "Delete account & all data" button in Profile → Account. This wipes both cloud and local data permanently. Alternatively, email us and we'll do it for you.
• Withdraw consent / sign out — sign out from Profile. Your local data remains; cloud data is preserved for your next sign-in.
• Lodge a complaint — with your local data-protection authority. In the EU/EEA, that's your national DPA; in India, the Data Protection Board.

8. Children

Hush is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. International transfers

Your data is stored on Google Firebase's US infrastructure. If you are located outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US. Google's data processing is governed by their Data Processing Addendum and Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.

10. Security

We rely on industry-standard protections provided by Google Firebase:

• TLS 1.2+ encryption for all data in transit.
• Encryption at rest in Google Cloud's storage.
• Firestore security rules ensure your data is only readable by you.
• Authentication tokens are handled by Firebase Auth and stored in Android's secure internal storage.

No internet-connected system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and will notify you and the relevant authorities if a breach affecting your data occurs.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Material changes will be announced inside the app or via a notice at the top of this page, at least 30 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
